Botox Vs Dysport

Botox Vs Dysport

How do they work?

Anti-wrinkle treatments are some of the most commonly sought after cosmetic procedures. This anti-aging treatment uses medications called neuromodulators. Commonly used neuromodulators include Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. Each one of them has the SAME active ingredient- botulinumtoxinA. They work by stopping the chemical messenger called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is how the nerves communicate to the muscles. Therefore, if the nerves and muscles cannot “talk”, then the muscles cannot contract or cause wrinkles.

What is the difference between them?

While they all have the same active ingredient, they differ based on how they are manufactured and the different additive proteins in each. These proteins are responsible for certain properties of the products as well as how our bodies break it down. Therefore, while they all essentially work, they each have some subtle nuances. Some will kick in quicker, some spread more in the muscle and are “heavier” feeling, some are more stiff, and some last longer for certain clients.
