Lip Flip or Lip Filler?

Lip Flip or Lip Filler?

The growing popularity of lip beautification is largely due to the accessibility of social media. Patients are quickly becoming more knowledgeable about their beauty options and the demand for lip enhancements has increased. So which treatment is the right solution for you: Lip flip versus lip filler!?

Lip flip:

A lip flip uses a medication known as a neuromodulator. Common types of neuromodulators are Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Daxxi, and Xeomin.  These medications work by interfering with the way the nerves and muscles communicate. Essentially causing relaxation of the muscle.

Relaxation of the muscles of the upper lip allows the lip to “flip” during animation (smiling, talking, laughing ect.). This helps to show more of the pink part of your lip and help disguise and “gummy smile” . This is great for clients who lose their upper lip when they smile.

Lips flips do not add volume of the lip or change the way the lip looks at rest. It tends to last 6-8 weeks. Lip filler is based per “unit”.

Lip filler:

Hyaluronic acid fillers are a gel like substance that is used to increase the volume of the lips.  They can be used to provide hydration, define the shape of the lips and combat the signs of aging. Fillers are used to change the way the lips look while at rest as well as provide more red show of the upper lip when smiling.

Lip filler is an art and can be done in such a way as to provide natural looking results. Each person’s lips are unique and respecting your own facial identity is essential.

Filler results tend to last 9-12 months. Filler is based on “syringe”. At Reflection we offer ½ syringe for a subtle hydration as well as a full syringe for a more noticeable plump.
